Creatures of the Night!

During programs we move throughout the audience, trudging up bleachers and down aisles to make sure that everyone is able to view our animals up close.  In order to ensure the best atmosphere and encourage our animals to behave naturally, NHECM limits the audience for a single program to 300.  To further provide everyone this learning experience of a lifetime, we also set out strict guidelines on how observers are expected to behave.  Our animals are hand raised but rely on us to keep a calm, controlled atmosphere so they can present a memorable experience when they come out of their shells!

Our popular Creatures of the Night program features nocturnal animals that not only survive, but thrive in darkness.  Our educational program will discuss how these animals hunt (or avoid being hunted!), their diets, habitat and special adaptations to live at night.  We are especially excited this year to feature native animals right from “our own backyard”and will discuss our affect on their local environment and habitat and stress the importance of conservation.  Animals exhibits are expected to include our Straw-Colored Fruit Bat, Bobcat, Raccoon, Possum, Armadillo and 3-toed Amphiuma as well as many other varied and unique exhibits which are available.
