NHECM is owned and managed by wildlife biologist Bob Tarter.  An avid conservationist and wildlife enthusiast, Bob has had a life-long dream working with animals while growing up in Southern Illinois.  After graduating from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, Bob worked for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for several years as a wildlife biologist.  While in Indiana, Bob helped manage the 7,000 acre Glendale Fish & Wildlife area in Southern Indiana.  Bob then spent time as a wildlife biologist for an internship with Ducks Unlimited and their waterfowl research program in North Dakota.

Shortly thereafter, Bob began working for the Natural History Education Company ("NHEC") then owned by biologist Scott Shupe.  Approximately a year later, Bob acquired the rights to territories in Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas & Mississippi and thereafter formed the Natural History Educational Company of the Midsouth.

Along with the other animal 'kids', Bob lives with his wife Beth and his two hunting (a.k.a. "sofa") dogs: Nina and Lilly, and "guard" dog Sable.  He is currently a charter member of the local Quail Forever Chapter, a member of Quail Unlimited and of Ducks Unlimited

You can reach Bob through NHECM's Toll Free number (800) 788-0458 or e-mail: bob@nhecm.com.

Job Opportunities with NHECM....

Although we currently do not have any openings, we always welcome resumes and letters of interest from other biologist and wildlife education enthusiasts who have the drive and energy to make learning about natural history fun and entertaining to our students.

Our wildlife biologists work as independent contractors with NHECM and must provide their own transportation.  NHECM will provide all the marketing, including the contact and scheduling of clients as well as animal specimens for the respective program being performed.  If any of the program animals require special permits, depending on the contractor's State of residence or the areas of programming, NHECM will acquire those permits pursuant to Federal and/or State law.  Our biologists are expected to have a facility or otherwise acceptable inhabitance for our animals in order to house them throughout the programming year.

If you are interested in working with NHECM as a wildlife biologist programmer, please e-mail your resume, professional references and cover letter to bob@nhecm.com

THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST - we look forward to hearing from you!
